I was on Woody's staff 1971-1975. Went to Philadelphia Eagles in 1976 - meet Bear Bryant in 1977, if I recall correctly the SEC was not playing black athletes at that time. Bear Byrant disagreed with that policy - he indicated to me if you let him recruit black players, it would be tough for anyone to keep him from winning the National Championship.
