Malcolm Butler played for Hinds Community College and then for the University of West Alabama as a cornberback. In 2009 he started for Hinds Community College, but was kicked off the team after the fifth game of the season. He then transferred to Alcorn State University, but was invited back to play for Hinds in 2011. In 2012 he enrolled at University of West Alabama and played there for two years.

University of West Alabama is in rural Livingston, Alabama. It is a Division II school in the Gulf South Conference and they are called the UWA Tigers. Malcolm Butler had a stellar career at West Alabama. At West Alabama in addition to cornerback he also returned kickoffs. His senior year, 2013, he was named a Beyond Sports Network All-American. That year he had 45 tackles, two interceptions, one blocked field goal, and averaged 27.9 yards on kickoff returns during the season.

Butler was not drafted in the 2014 NFL draft, but the Patriots signed him on May 19, 2014. When the season started he was the fifth cornerback on the depth chart, but worked his way up to more playing time. He was the hero of Super Bowl XLIX intercpeting Russell Wilson’s pass to Ricardo Lockette; anticiapting it and getting there quicker than Lockette. This sealed the Super Bowl Victory for the Patriots 28-24 over the Seatlle Seahawks. Butler leads the Patriots with four interceptions this year. Butler and the Patriots take on the Falcons in Super LI on February 5, 2017. Let’s hope for a good, close, and hard fought game.
