Quarterback Matthew Stafford from the University of Georgia was the first pick of the 2009 NFL Draft. Matthew was drafted by the Detroit Lions.
Matthew Stafford threw for 3,459 yard, 25 TDs, and 10 interceptions in his junior year. As a result of his rise as a quarterback he left school early and entered the NFL Draft.
Matthew has been the starting quarterback for the Detroit Lions since his first season. He has reached 25,000 passing yards quicker than anyone else in league history doing so in 90 games. In 2014 he was named to the Pro Bowl. The book is still out on Stafford, but he is definitely not a bust.
