Art Schlichter holds the all-time passing record at Ohio State with 7,547 yards passing. Art played from 1978 to 1981. He passed for a 7.9 yards-per-pass average, 50 TDs, and 46 interceptions. Twenty of the interceptions came his freshmen year while 17 of his TDs came his senior year.

Bobby Hoying who played for the Buckeyes from 1992 to 1995 is second with 7,232 passing yards. J.T. Barrett who will be entering his senior year is third with 6,381 passing yards. If J.T. has a good passing year he can break the record as he is only 1,166 yards behind.

Interestingly, Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith is only in eighth place. Mike Tomczak who is ninth on the all time OSU passing yards list, had the best NFL career, which lasted 15 seasons with various teams: Bears; Packers; Browns; and Steelers. Tomczak threw for 16,079 yards, 88 TDs, and 106 interceptions in the NFL. Buckeye Kent Graham had the next most successful NFL career where he played 11 seasons and threw for 7,801 yards. Overall, Ohio State does not produce NFL quarterbacks, something to do with three yards and a cloud of dust.
