The Alabama Crimson Tide have finished fourth in either or both the Coaches’ Poll and the AP Poll seven times.

  • 1973 - Coach Bear Bryant - 11-1 - AP Poll only

It should be noted that in 1973 the Tide won the Coaches Poll and claimed it as a National Championship, despite the fact that the Tide lost to Notre Dame 23-24 in the Sugar Bowl. We should also mention that back then the final Coaches Poll came out before the bowl games were played.

In 1965 the AP Poll voted Alabama the number one team in the country. The Tide claim this as a National Championship. Interesting way to run a sport league? Multiple champions in any given season. Vote for a 16 team playoff.
