Matthew Stafford who played for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2006 to 2008 holds the record for the second all-time highest paid rookie contract.



Matthew Stafford signed a six year/$72 million contract with the Detroit Lions in 2009. Stafford was a Pro Bowl selection in 2014. On July 7, 2013, Stafford agreed to a three-year, $53 million extension with the Lions. Stafford is an excellent example of where potential was correctly predicted and rewarded.
