Matthew Stafford who played for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2006 to 2008 holds the record for the second all-time highest paid rookie contract.

Matthew Stafford signed a six year/$72 million contract with the Detroit Lions in 2009. Stafford was a Pro Bowl selection in 2014.
