Who is the highest paid draft pick ever? (Factoid 472)

Quarterback Sam Bradford is the highest paid draft pick ever. Bradford played for the Oklahoma Sooners and won the Heisman in 2008. The Saint Louis Rams drafted him in the 2010 NFL Draft and signed him to a contract worth $76 million.

Bradford played for the Oklahoma Sooners from 2007 to 2009. Over his college career he had 8,403 yards passing, threw for 88 TDs, and had only 16 interceptions. All this with an injury riddled junior year that limited his playing time. He opted to enter the draft and forgo his senior year at Oklahoma.
Entering the 2010 NFL Draft and forgoing his senior year was a smart move for two reasons: he was/is injury prone and the new CBA went into effect in 2011. The new collective bargaining agreement limited the size of contracts for rookies, so Sam will hold this record until inflation catches up. That is a lot of money for someone who has been plagued by injuries throughout his NFL career.
