Factoid 410 - Who has the 7th best all time Wonderlic score for an NFL Prospect?
Date:
2/27/15
Jason Maas, QB for Oregon, scored a 43 on the Wonderlic, which earned him the honor of the 7th best score on this test in NFL history. Maas played for the Oregon Ducks from 1995 to 1998. In 1997 he had excellent stats throwing for 18 touchdowns. Unfortunately, he lost the starting QB job to the high-profile transfer Akili Smith and would be a backup for the remainder of his career at Oregon.

“The Wonderlic is a 50-question test administered to all combine participants that measures cognitive ability. The time limit is 12 minutes. A score of 20 is indicative of ‘average’ intelligence and roughly equivalent to an IQ of 100. Apr 12, 2014.” - ESPN
Maas was not drafted in the 1999 NFL Draft. He ended up signing with the Baltimore Ravens but was let go by them. So his high Wonderlic score did not result in an NFL career. He did, however, go on to have a successful CFL career from 2000 to 2011. He has been on three Grey Cup champion teams.
