In 1921 the West Virginia Mountaineers took on the Pitt Panthers. This was the first live radio broadcast of a college football game by Harold W. Arlin. The game was called the Backyard Brawl and was played at Forbes Field and was announced on KDKA on October 8, 1921.

Pittsburgh won the game 21-13.
