Blog - #44 - No FBS Playoff for You! (Atlantic Coast Conference, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, or the Southeastern)

AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas site of the first FBS title game.

This year is the first of the FBS (Division 1) college playoffs. It is a four team single elimination playoff. Presently, that would leave at least one team from the power conferences out of the playoffs: Atlantic Coast Conference; Big Ten; Big 12; Pac-12; and the Southeastern. (This also ignores any potential independent.) Who knows how the selection committee will lean?

As of October 5th it actually looks like both the Big Ten and the Pac-12 would be left out of the playoffs:

  • #1 - Florida State (ACC)
  • #2 - Auburn (SEC)
  • #5 - Baylor (Big 12)
  • #6 - Notre Dame (Independent)
  • #8 - Michigan State (Big Ten)
  • #10 - Arizon (Pac 12)

So we fans spend almost six billion dollars per year on college football, and this is what the NCAA gives us? Do you think this is far? We do not. Vote here to express your opinion ---> Vote .

One hundred and forty-five seasons and the NCAA still sticks to a convoluted ancient way of thinking: “We will pick who should play for the national championship.” This is such a pompous attitude. They gladly take our money, but please the fans, they cannot.

Our data shows that over 88% of fans prefer a playoff format larger than four teams. Please rant via the comment button below.
