David Klingler holds the record for the most passing TDs in a game. He played for the Houston Cougars from 1988 to 1991. He broke the record with 11 touchdown passes vs. Eastern Washington on November 7, 1990. Houston won the game 84-21.

Klingler won the 1990 Sammy Baugh Trophy. He was drafted by and played for the Cincinnati Bengals, however he could never establish himself as a starter. He also played for the Oakland Raiders. His NFL career was from 1992 to 1998, although in the last year he was just a practice squad player.
