Harvard’s first victory was a 3-0 win over McGill University (Canada). The game was played in Cambridge, Massachusetts on May 14, 1874.

In those years, due to travel being more difficult, they would often play another game the next day against the same opponent, which Harvard did and ended up tying McGill 0-0.
