Factoid 330 – And the College Football Player (FBS) with the longest punt ever is…

Date: 12/9/14

Pat Brady holds the record for the longest punt in college football. He played for the University of Nevada, Reno: the Nevada Wolf Pack. He played for Nevada from 1948 to 1951. At first he was a quarterback and then a punter. He set the record with a 99 yard punt on October 28, 1950 vs. Loyola Marymount. The Wolf Pack lost the game 7-34.

In the 1951 season Brady played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL. Brady was drafted in the 13th round as pick 155 in 1952 by the New York Giants. In 1952 he joined the Pittsburgh Steelers and played for them from 1952 to 1954. He led the league in punting in 1953 and 1954. A torn Achilles tendon during the 1955 pre-season ended his career.

His record is very unique as it can only be tied but never broken. He will always be in the record book.
