Freshman running back Nick Chubb stepped into Todd Gurley’s position when Todd was unable to play due to violations and injuries. Chubb didn’t miss a beat running 1547 yards, which is a 7.1 yards per carry average, and 14 TDs. He is considered one of the top three to win the Heisman.
He most certainly has the talent. He does however have to play in the SEC. Georgia’s non-conference games will be easy to win and can be a good stat padder for Chubb. However, they also have to play: Alabama; Missouri; Florida; Auburn; and Georgia Tech. It will be impossible to get Heisman type stats against these teams.
Georgia will be good this year, but it is unlikely they will win the conference. This doesn’t help Chubb. We have him as a 6-1 odds to win the Heisman.
