Coach Eli Abbott was the first Alabama coach to beat Auburn. On November 29, 1894 the Crimson Tide beat Auburn 18-0.
Alabama would not taste victory again for nine years vs. Auburn, beating them 18-6 in 1903.
Abbott would coach Alabama from 1893 to 1895 and in 1902. His overall record at Alabama would be 7-13. His record vs. Auburn would be a dismal 1-3. Overall Alabama leads the series 34–18–1, but the early years were very lopsided in Auburn’s favor.
