Alabama played their first game and had their first victory on November 11, 1892. They played Birmingham High School and won 56-0. The game was played at Lakeview Park, Alabama.

E. B. Beaumont was the head coach. He only coached one season before being fired. He had a record of 2-2. According to the Alabama Yearbook, this was why he was let go:

“We were unfortunate in securing a coach. After keeping him for a short time, we found that his knowledge of the game was very limited. We therefore got rid of him."
