Quarterback/halfback George Cafego was the 1940 number one draft pick and was drafted by the Chicago Cardinals. He went on to play in the NFL for four seasons that were briefly interrupted by military service.
George played for the University of Tennessee where he was an All-American and a Heisman runner-up.
