Tyrell Johnson holds the record for the most solo tackles in a game. He played for the Arkansas State Red Wolves from 2004 to 2007. He holds the record with 20 solo tackles in a game vs. North Texas on November 26, 2005. Arkansas State won the game by a score of 31-24.

Johnson is a 3X First-Team All-Sun Belt from 2005 to 2007. In 2007 he was the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year. He played in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions. He was a practice squad member for the Miami Dolphins in 2012 and is on the practice squad presently with the Atlanta Falcons.
