The teams vying for the playoffs presently are:

  • 1 - Alabama 10-1
  • 2 - Oregon 10-1
  • 3 - Florida State 11-0
  • 4 - Mississippi State 10-1
  • 5 - TCU 10-1 (Played Thursday vs. Texas 48-10)
  • 6 - Ohio State 10-1
  • 7 - Baylor 9-1

For five of the schools vying for a playoff spot it is rivalry weekend: Alabama; Oregon; Florida State; Mississippi State; and Ohio State. The implications are simple: these traditional rivalries can result in underdog victories and even highly unexpected victories; it should shake up the playoff race. We will give you a brief history.
