Halfback Charley Trippi of the University of Georgia was the number one draft pick in 1945. He was drafted by the Chicago Cardinals.
Trippiās played for the Georgia Bulldogs in 1942, 1945, and 1946. His college career was interrupted by World War II as he went to serve his country.
He went on to have a nine year pro career. He is both in the College Football Hall of Fame and in the Pro Foorball Hall of Fame.
