Lee Johnson holds the record for the highest punting average in a game. Johnson played for BYU in 1980, 1983, and 1984. He set the record on October 8, 1983 vs. Wyoming. BYU won the game 41-10. He set the record with an average of 60.4 yards per punt that day.
Johnson as a Bengal
Johnson was a member of the BYU 1984 National Champion team. His nickname was "Thunderfoot." He played 18 seasons in the NFL in a total of 259 games and kicked 1,226 punts for a total of 51,979 yards.
He played for the Houston Oilers (1985–1987), Cleveland Browns (1987–1988), Cincinnati Bengals (1988–1998), New England Patriots (1999–2001), Minnesota Vikings (2001), and the Philadelphia Eagles (2002).
