Cody Kessler had a great year last year throwing for 3,826 yards, 39 TDs, only 5 interceptions, and a completion percentage of 69.7%. Kessler’s Trojans finished the season with a 9-4 record and with a win in the Holiday Bowl.
USC and Kessler are positioned for a good run, especially since the sanctions are all gone, and they can compete with a full scholarship base. Other than Notre Dame, their out of conference schedule should help Kessler’s Heisman hopes, as well as their regular season schedule, as the Pac-12 is just not that strong.
The highlight game will be Notre Dame. If USC wins it and Kessler is MVP, that will move him up on the Heisman watch.
Even if all this happens, we don’t think he wins the Heisman. Our odds for him to win the Heisman are 12 to 1.
