Factoid 343 - Which BCS National Championship game was the most lopsided?
Date:
12/22/14
The 2005 Orange Bowl/BCS National Championship game was the most lopsided. USC beat Oklahoma 55-19 for a 36 point margin victory. It pitted two Heisman trophy winners against each other: Jason White, 2003 Heisman Trophy winner and Oklahoma’s starting QB, vs. Matt Leinart 2004 Heisman Trophy winner and USC’s starting QB.

Pete Carroll was USC’s coach, and Bob Stoops was Oklahoma’s coach. USC had the added advantage of having the future Heisman Trophy winner running back Reggie Bush (2005) on the team. It should be noted that USC’s victory was vacated due to violating NCAA rules.
