Factoid 20 - Alabama is fourth in NCAAF National Championships with 19
Date:
12/10/13
The Alabama Crimson Tide hold the record of the fourth most NCAA football championships with 19 of them.
The Crimson Tide won its first championship in 1925 with Wallace Wade as coach, he would go on to win two more. Other coaches who have won a national championship for Alabama are Frank Thomas (3), Bear Bryant (9)*, Gene Stallings (1), and Nick Saban (3).
The Tide is on somewhat of a roll, no pun intended, having won three of the last four NCAA Division One Football Championships. They still have a way to go to pass Princeton who has 28 of them, although Notre Dame (22) is clearly in their sites.
* - Bear Bryant won 10 overall, his first being at the University of Kentucky.
