Wallace Wade was the first Alabama coach to win a National Championship. In 1925 his team went 10-0 and was selected by all the major selectors as National Champions.

Wallace Wade would coach Alabama from 1923 to 1930. He would win three National Championships in 1925, 1926, and 1930. He would go
61–13–3 at Alabama. He would win four Southern Conference titles and was 2-0-1 in Bowl games while at Alabama.

Coach Wade would leave Alabama to go and coach Duke. It was quite the shock to most of the football world, as he had just won a National Championship. He coached Duke from 1931 to 1950. He would compile a record of 110–36–7 while at Duke where he also won six Southern Conference titles and went 0-2 in Bowl games. He had success at Duke but not quite the level of success he had reached at Alabama.
