There have been 26 coaches’ teams with undefeated seasons (ties included) in FBS/Division One team history. The top three coaches of all time in this category are Gil Dobie (14), Fielding H. Yost (9), and Earl Blaik (7).
Gil Dobie had a 182–45–15 overall record as a coach. He was head coach at North Dakota Agricultural (1906-1907), Washington (1908–1916), Navy (1917–1919), Cornell (1920–1935), and Boston College (1936–1938). His 14 undefeated seasons were at North Dakota, Washington, and Cornell.

Fielding H. Yost had a 198–35–12 overall record as a coach. He was head coach at Ohio Wesleyan (1897),
Nebraska (1898), Kansas (1899), Stanford (1900), San Jose State (1900), Michigan (1901–1923), and
Michigan (1925–1926). His nine undefeated seasons were are at Kansas and Michigan.

Earl Blaik had a 166–48–14 overall record as a coach. He was head coach at Dartmouth (1934-1940) and Army (1941-1958). His seven undefeated seasons were at Army and Dartmouth.
