Lamar Jackson won the 2016 Heisman award Saturday night, December 10, 2016, here are the voting results:

1. Lamar Jackson: 2,144 points
2. Deshaun Watson: 1,524 points
3. Baker Mayfield: 361 points
4. Dede Westbrook: 209 points
5. Jabrill Peppers: 208 points

Lamar is the youngest player ever to win this award and the first Louisville Cardinal to win it. Lamar, Deshaun, and Baker had similar passing numbers, but Lamar’s rushing numbers were what won him the award: 1,538 yards rushing and 21 rushing TDs, while Deshaun had 524 yards rushing and 6 TDs and Baker had 143 yards rushing and 6 rushing TDs.

We predicted Lamar would win, but the hour-long Heisman show dragged on and on, while everyone knew who the winner was going to be. Lamar’s rushing performance was the separation.

So after the season what is next for all five players? Here is our speculation:

Deshaun Watson, Baker Mayfield, Dede Westbrook, and Jabrill Peppers all leave for the NFL, some because they are done with eligibility, some because there is no reason to hang around. Lamar is the only one to come back and he will have a good year next year, but not spectacular as he will be buying his time to go to the NFL, such is the nature of the beast now-a-days.
