Jim Harbaugh vs. Urban Meyer; has the Ten Year War been revived? ( The Ten Year War: Ten Classic Games Between Bo and Woody.)

First of all, this is great news for Michigan and the Big Ten. A big name hire for a big name program and for a conference that some see as down. Will this revive the Ohio State - Michigan rivalry? Will this be Bo vs. Woody Part II?

Jim Harbaugh’s resume is impressive: four years as QB at Michigan; a 15 year NFL playing career; two head college coaching stings; and four years as head coach in the NFL. In college his coaching record was 58-27, and in the NFL it was 49-22-1. In college the highest his teams finished was fourth in 2010, when Stanford went 12-1 and won the Orange Bowl vs. VA Tech. In the NFL he took the Niners to the Super Bowl where he lost to his brother: John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens.

Urban Meyer played defensive back for the Cincinnati Bearcats but did not play beyond that. He started coaching in 1985, when Harbaugh was still playing in college. Meyer has 29 years of coaching experience, whereas Harbaugh has 12 years. They both started head coaching jobs around the same time. Urban has been head coach for Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, and Ohio State. He has never coached in the NFL and has an overall head coaching record of 140-26 for 84% winning percentage.

So who has the edge? We say Urban Meyer. College coaching is his career, and he has been doing it much longer than Harbaugh. Meyer also has two national championships, something Harbaugh does not. Also, since Michigan is so down, it will take Harbaugh three years to get it back to a better level; during that time Urban Meyer will be challenging for national championships. Sorry, no Bo vs. Woody Part II.
