End Leon Hart from the University of Notre Dame was the number pick in the 1950 draft. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions.

He won the Heisman Trophy and the Maxwell Award in 1949*. He holds the distinction of being the only lineman to win college football national championships and three NFL Championships. He also is only one of three players to win the national championship, win the Heisman, and be the 1st draft pick.

He played in the NFL for eight years. He is in the College Football Hall of Fame.
