The answer is one. The Houston Cougars have had one Heisman Trophy winner and it was Andre Ware in 1989.
Andre Ware had a fantastic junior year throwing for 4,699 yards, 46 touchdowns, and only 15 interceptions. Andre forewent his senior season and entered the 1990 NFL draft where he was picked seventh overall by the Detroit Lions. His NFL career was a disappointment.
