Jabrill Peppers ran for three TDs, passed for zero TDs, and returned one TD on a punt return, for a total of four TDs. Jabrill is a linebacker, but is also used on offense and special teams.
To evaluate Jabrill against other Heisman candidates his defensive play must also be accounted for. He had 66 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, he had three sacks, and one interception. That fact that he is a two-way player and Michigan had a good year will get him invited to the Heisman ceremony, but he is not going to win it. The other top five candidates: Jake Browning, Baker Mayfield, Deshaun Watson, and Lamar Jackson had such overwhelming influence offensively with great seasons that Jabrill’s chances of winning the Heisman are zero.
UPDATE
Jabrill Peppers was invited to the Heisman Ceremony. One of five finalitsts, the others were: Baker Mayfield, Lamar Jackson, Deshaun Watson, and Dede Westbrook. The winner will be announced December 10, 2016, at 8 PM.
