Does Jameis Winston become the second player to win the Heisman trophy twice? If so, does it happen this year or next? Thirty-nine years players have been chasing Archie.

Archie Mason Griffin was born on August 21, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio. Archie attended Eastmoor High School in Columbus. His senior year he rushed for 1,787 yards and scored over 170 points in 11 games, including 29 touchdowns. In his senior year he led his team to the Columbus City League championship, rushing for 267 yards on 31 carries in the title game against Linden-McKinley High School.

Archie played for legendary coach Woody Hayes from 1972 to 1975. While at The Ohio State his teams went 40-5-1, his first three years his teams were Big Ten Co-Champions, his senior year they were Big Ten Champions, and his last three years various polls and selectors named the Buckeyes National Champions. (However, these championships are not recognized by The Ohio State and were not consensus National Championships.) His teams also never lost to archrival Michigan going, 3-0-1. His career stats are below:

Archie was a consensus All-American in 1974 and 1975. As a sophomore he finished 5th in the Heisman voting. He won the Heisman his junior and senior years: still the only player to win this twice. He is a two time winner of the Big 10 Most Valuable Player Award (1973–1974), two time UPI Player of the Year (1974-1975), Maxwell Award winner (1975) and Sporting News Man of the Year (1975). Griffin is also one of two players in NCAA history to start in four Rose Bowl games. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1986.

Jameis Winston was born in Bessemer, Alabama on January 6, 1994. He plays for the Florida State Seminoles, won last year’s Heisman Trophy, and his team won the National Championship. His first year of playing college football he threw for 40 TDs, passed for 4057 yards, and had a QB rating of 184.8. .

This week’s Titans Clash question; can Jameis keep this up and win the Heisman this season? If not this season, how about next season? Please comment via the button below. However, before you do that watch the videos of the two players:

Faniacs thinks he cannot, it is just simply too hard to do. As a side note, Archie Griffin had 34 games with 100 yards or more rushing, which is still an FBS record..
