The rumor is that Jameis Winston will be the first player drafted in the 2015 NFL Draft, and Mariota will be second. Do you agree with this? Yes or no: please comment via the button below.

We actually think that Mariota is the better prospect, but we believe Winston will be drafted first. Below are five reason Mariota is the better prospect.
  • Mariota outperformed Winston in every single physical test that is given in speed, agility, and strength at the NFL combine. (For more information, follow this link: 2015 NFL combine results.)
  • Mariota has had no legal problems. Winston has: from stealing crab legs to rape allegations. Why chance your franchise on someone who is immature, lacks discipline, and may continue to have legal problems?
  • Mariota is a better runner. He had 770 yards rushing this season vs. 54 for Winston.
  • Mariota is a more accurate passer and rarely throws interceptions. Mariota had 42 touchdowns and only four interceptions this season. Winston had 25 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.
  • It appears that Mariota is smarter; he received his college degree in general sciences, graduating a year early. Winston’s page on the FSU website says his major is “exploratory”.

According to most scouts, Winston has the better arm, which is very important. In every other category Mariota is the better prospect. Intelligence and discipline are just as important for a quarterback in the NFL; Mariota is clearly way ahead of Winston in both of these categories. We would recommend drafting Mariota over Winston.
