Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma, threw for 38 TDs and ran for six so he had a total of 44 TDs accounted for. He threw for 3,669 yards, 38 TDs, and eight interceptions. He ran for 143 yards and six TDs.
Mayfield and Oklahoma got off to a slow start this season losing the first two out of three games they played, but they have recovered and are on a nine game winning streak. Mayfield started his career with Texas Tech, but transferred to Oklahoma in January 2014, because of this he had to sit out one season.
Mayfield finished fourth in the Heisman voting last year and there is a good possibility he will be invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony. We doubt he will win as Lamar Jackson has similar passing stats, but Lamar also has incredible rushing stats, this puts Lamar ahead of Baker in the Heisman race.
UPDATE
Baker Mayfield was invited to the Heisman Ceremony. One of five finalitsts, the others were: Lamar Jackson, Jabrill Peppers, Deshaun Watson, and Dede Westbrook. The winner will be announced December 10, 2016, at 8 PM.
