Takkarist McKinley played for the UCLA Bruins from 2014 to 2016. As a freshmen, he had to attend Contra Costa College, a community college, because he did not meet the requirements for UCLA. Takkarist had 10 sacks last year for the Bruins and 16 over the course of his career.
Over his career at UCLA, Takkarist had 99 tackles, 80 of which were solo tackles, and 16 sacks. At the combine Takkarist ran the 40 yard dash in 4.59 seconds, bench pressed 225 pounds 24 times, had a 33 inch vertical jump, and had a 10'2" broad jump. Takkarist is 6’ 2” and 250 pounds.
The Atlanta Falcons chose Takkarist as their first pick of the NFL Draft and the 26th overall pick. Atlanta was near the bottom in passing yards given up last year. Undoubtedly, they will look to Takkarist to get to the quarterback and improve their passing defense. Perhaps this addition wins them a Super Bowl?
