Titans Clash - #3 - The Ohio State Buckeyes vs. the Michigan Wolverines

11/22/13-Author: Tali
The Buckeyes played the Wolverines for the first time in 1897, then played them again in 1901, and have played them every year since. Michigan leads the series 58-44-6. They gained the early lead in the series by winning 14 straight. Ohio State (led by legendary halfback Chic Hartley) beat Michigan for the first time in 1919 by a score of 13 to 3 in Ann Arbor. (Michigan was already winning national championships in the early 1900s while Ohio State really only became a football powerhouse in the mid 1930s.)

The rivalry is called the “Greatest Rivalry in Sports.” While that may true, results have shown that each team goes through periods of dominating the other team. Most recently Ohio State is on a 12 year tear, dominating Michigan 10 to 2 over that span. With the Buckeyes having Urban Meyer as their coach and Michigan searching to regain dominance, for the near future it looks like the Buckeyes will continue this streak.

The question is: will The Ohio State Buckeyes even out the series and if so, when? If not, why not? (Use the comment button below.)
