Jason Taylor played for the Akron Zips of the Mid-American Conference. He was a four-year letterman and three- year starter. He played weak side linebacker up until his senior year; his senior year he was moved to defensive end. He played from 1993 to 1996.

Jason Taylor had 279 tackles, 21 sacks, seven fumbles recovered, and three interceptions in his college career. He was a two-time first-team All-Mid-American Conference selection as a junior and senior, as well as an All-America pick as a junior.

Jason was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the third round as the 73rd overall pick in the 1997 NFL Draft. He had a 15-year career in the NFL and played for the following teams: Miami Dolphins (1997–2007, 2009, and 2011), Washington Redskins (2008), and the New York Jets (2010). He was a six-time Pro-Bowler. He had 775 tackles, 139.5 quarterback sacks, eight interceptions, 48 forced fumbles, 29 fumble recoveries, and nine touchdowns over his NFL career. He is to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as member of the 2017 Hall of Fame class.
