Factoid 418 - Who has the 3rd best all time Wonderlic score for an NFL Prospect?
Date: 3/7/15
Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB for Harvard, scored a 48 on the Wonderlic, which earned him the honor of the 3rd best score on this test in NFL history. It is the highest score a QB has ever scored on this test. He also completed the test in nine minutes; you actually have 12 minutes to complete it. Fitzpatrick played for the Harvard Crimson from 2001 to 2004. He had a stellar career at Harvard, not only as a passer but as a good running QB as well. His senior year he passed for 1,986 yards and ran for 448 yards.

“The Wonderlic is a 50-question test administered to all combine participants that measures cognitive ability. The time limit is 12 minutes. A score of 20 is indicative of ‘average’ intelligence and roughly equivalent to an IQ of 100. Apr 12, 2014.” - ESPN

His ability, college career, and high Wonderlic score resulted in Fitzpatrick being drafted. He was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL. He is on his eleventh season in the NFL. He has been on five different teams but has almost thrown for 20,000 yards. Presently, he has a $7,250,000 two year contract with Houston Texans. While not a Hall of Famer, Fitzpatrick has been an NFL success, and in this case the high Wonderlic correlates with success in the NFL.
